He also stressed the importance of encouraging the Sudanese parties to heed reason and end the shedding of Sudanese blood by implementing an immediate and swift ceasefire.

For his part, Hoekstra expressed his country's appreciation of Egypt's efforts to bring an end to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Furthermore, he expressed deep concern over the impact of military operations on Sudanese citizens, and foreign nationals present there.

Hoekstra also asked that Egypt coordinate with the Netherlands and contribute to providing protection for Dutch nationals in Sudan, a suggestion which was welcomed by Shoukry.

The two top diplomats agreed to continue coordination and consultation in the coming period as the situation in Sudan remains volatile.
