"The continuation of armed confrontations and repeated violations of successive ceasefire declarations is a cause for deep concern. This exposes the lives of Sudanese civilians and residents to danger and leads to an accelerated deterioration of difficult living conditions in Sudan," the statement added.

Egypt expressed its hope the warring parties will commit to the ceasefire announced earlier in a sustainable manner, stressing it is ready to provide all forms of support to resolve the crisis. 

It added it wants to see calm restored peaceful dialogue held in Sudan to stop the bloodshed.

The statement referred to Egypt's efforts in cooperating with several countries to complete the evacuation of Egyptian and foreign nationals residing in Sudan.

"We also note in this regard the response of the Sudanese authorities and their cooperation in evacuating Egyptian and foreign nationals, despite the difficulty and danger of the security situation," the statement noted.

Around 10,000 Egyptians, including 5,000 students, were in Sudan when the conflict broke out.

On Tuesday, Egypt repatriated another batch of 635 nationals from Sudan -- 446 people via land transport and 189 via air transport -- bringing the total number of evacuated Egyptians to 1,539.

On 20 April, Egypt participated in the ministerial meeting held by the African Union Commission on the situation in Sudan.

Egypt has been conducting discussions with all international and regional stakeholders, at the level of officials of states and organisations, to discuss the means to overcome the crisis in Sudan.
