Charles ascended to the throne on 8 September 2022, following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

On the sidelines of the reception, the Egyptian premier also met with various heads of state and delegations who will also be attending the ceremony, where they discussed the latest developments in Sudan.

Madbouly outlined Egypt's efforts to find a swift resolution to the crisis that would protect Sudan and its people, as well as the country’s efforts to welcome tens of thousands of Sudanese fleeing the violence.

They also discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern as well as the awaited opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the cabinet added.
