The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its heartfelt sympathies to the families of the victims and wished for a speedy recovery for the injured and quick success in finding the missing.
Cairo also expressed solidarity with the government and people of the DR Congo during this difficult time.
The floods swept through two villages in South Kivu, leaving a trail of destruction and reportedly claiming the lives of at least 200 people and leading to scenes of aid workers stacking mud-covered bodies of the deceased.
The torrential rain also destroyed structures, with rescue teams still searching for survivors who may be trapped under rubble.
