"It is an important step towards protecting civilians and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and evacuation operations," the foreign ministry’s statement read.
After nearly a month of fighting that has killed more than 750, injured 5,000 and displaced over 900,000, Sudan's warring factions signed a commitment on Thursday to respect humanitarian principles in their escalating conflict on Thursday.
However, they did not reach a ceasefire during the talks, which were held in Saudi Arabia.
Egypt expressed hope that "all parties involved would adhere to the commitments made in the declaration and work with regional and international partners to reach a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire and resume dialogue."
Egypt praised the efforts of Saudi Arabia and the United States in encouraging the Sudanese parties to participate in the talks, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to end the current crisis in Sudan as soon as possible.
