Shoukry and Pederson reviewed the gradual and step-by-step approach to resolving the Syrian crisis that was discussed during the meetings held in Jeddah, Amman, and the 32nd Arab Leaders Summit in Jeddah, and that accorded with the UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
Shoukry also emphasized Egypt's commitment to continuing coordination between the Arab Ministerial Committee on Syria and the Special Envoy to consolidate all the efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis.
The Special Envoy to Syria expressed, in turn, his keenness to work with the Arab Ministerial Committee, reiterating that he appreciated the continuous communication with Egypt about the Syrian crisis.
In early May, the League of Arab States reinstated the membership of the Syrian Arab Republic after more than a decade-long suspension.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shoukry will discuss during his current visit to Geneva bilateral cooperation and regional issues, especially those of Sudan and Syria, with representatives of several international organizations.
