
First Lady of Egypt Intisar El-Sisi and First Lady of the US Jill Biden during the latter's visit to Egypt in early June
In a tweet shortly after the US First Lady departed from Cairo on Saturday afternoon, the US embassy added that Mrs Biden “saw parts of what makes Egypt great” during her trip.
The First Lady of Egypt Entisar El-Sisi bade farewell to Mrs Biden at the airport.
Shortly afterwards, in a post on her Facebook page, Mrs El-Sisi wrote: “I was happy to meet Mrs Jill Biden during her visit to her second home in Egypt."
US First Lady Jill Biden had arrived in Cairo on Friday on a short visit to Egypt as part of a week-long trip to the region, which began with her attending Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah wedding in Amman on Thursday.
She was welcomed by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and First Lady Entisar El-Sisi upon her arrival in the Egyptian capital.
During her visit, Mrs Biden toured Al-Azhar Mosque and the Great Pyramids of Giza.
She also visited ElSewedy International Applied Technical School.
