Meanwhile, various refugees will be selling and showcasing their products and handicrafts at the expo.
The run is organized as part of PROSPECTS, a partnership led by the Government of the Netherlands, which brings together the UNHCR, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF).
World Refugee Day is commemorated annually by the UN on 20 June.
This year World Refugee Day comes as the UNHCR faces a new challenge involving an increasing number of Sudanese refugees escaping Sudan to neighbouring countries, including Egypt.
According to the UNHCR’s latest official numbers in May 2023, the number of refugees in Egypt who are registered with the UN is 294,000 - refugees and asylum-seekers - who mostly live in urban centres in the Greater Cairo area and in the North Coast.
Syrian refugees top the number of UNHCR-registered refugees in Egypt.
Last Friday, the UNHCR said 210,000 Sudanese have entered Egypt via Argeen and Qustul border crossings with Sudan since the start of the conflict.
