The shipment arrived in Port Sudan and will be delivered to afflicted areas and the neediest people in the brotherly country, read the statement.

The aid was provided by the Ministry of Defence and Military Production, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House.

It was sent in implementation of directives from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, in continuation of the effective Egyptian role toward brotherly Sudan, according to the statement.

Officials on the Sudanese side expressed appreciation for the efforts carried out by Egypt and its political leadership in helping overcome the difficulties faced by the Sudanese people added the statement.

The supply vessel transported a number of Egyptians and Sudanese nationals from Sudan to Egypt on its way back home, added Gharib.

Upon their arrival in Egypt, those transported voiced appreciation for the care that they received from Egyptian state, he said.

Egypt has received more than 200,000 Sudanese citizens who escaped the country since the outbreak of the conflict in mid-April.

Egypt has also delivered tens of tons of medical supplies to Port Sudan and has facilitated the transport of tens of tons more of international humanitarian aid to the country.
