In a Facebook post, President El-Sisi wished the brotherly Saudi people further goodness, progress, and prosperity.

The Egyptian president also highlighted the historical bond between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

"The long history of friendship and brotherhood between Egypt and Saudi Arabia bears witness to the depth of the bonds and close ties between the two peoples as well as the strength and steadfastness of the relations between the two countries," El-Sisi wrote.

Moreover, he confirmed Egypt's aspiration to further strengthen and consolidate these bonds and relations in a way that achieves the mutual interests of the two brotherly peoples, as well as other Arab and Islamic nations.

The holiday is celebrated annually in Saudi Arabia to commemorate its unification and founding by the late King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-Saud in 1932.

Also on Saturday, the Saudi consulate general in Alexandria celebrated the holiday in the presence of Saudi Consul General Mazyad Al-Huwaishan and Governor of Alexandria Mohamed El-Sherif, along with top officials from both sides.

Last Thursday, President El-Sisi sent a congratulatory cable to the Saudi king ahead of the holiday.
