The two leaders reviewed "the ongoing intensive contacts with various concerned parties to urge de-escalation and achieve calm to stop the bloodshed and to protect civilians," read a statement by the Egyptian presidency.
El-Sisi and Tamim noted that civilians are subjected to “great” humanitarian suffering as a result of continuing military operations.
They confirmed the need to push strongly towards achieving just peace in the region based on the two-state solution in accordance with the relevant references of international legitimacy, added the statement.
On Monday, El-Sisi discussed with a group of regional leaders and international officials including Turkish President Recap Tayyeb Erdogan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman via telephone the efforts to achieve calm and stop the escalation between Palestinians and Israelis.
