The French president's announcement came during a press conference with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo on Wednesday.

Macron said France has a vision that focuses on confronting terrorism and simultaneously protecting civilians.

"We have to avoid escalation and the increase in the level of tensions in the region."

Macron urged against further escalation, calling for the protection of civilians and the release of more captives and voicing appreciation for the efforts exerted by Egypt and Qatar in this regard.

The French president also asserted that his country does not apply double standards, adding: “International law applies to everyone, and France adopts international humanitarian values.”

"All human lives are equal and all victims deserve our sympathy and our permanent commitment [to promote] a just and lasting peace in the Middle East," Macron added.

Macron's remarks about double standards come in response to several Arab leaders who accused Western countries of considering that the lives of Palestinians are less important than the lives of Israelis.

The French president asserted that humanitarian aid must enter Gaza, and fuel supplies must be delivered to hospitals without obstacles.

Macron said a peace and security initiative is much needed to spare the region further escalation and address the root causes of the conflict.
