According to the Egyptian Presidency, El-Sisi emphasized in the telephone call he received from the German Chancellor Egypt’s endeavour to provide and deliver aid to assist the people of Gaza, given the deteriorating humanitarian situation there.
He also discussed with Scholz the latest developments concerning the evacuation of foreign nationals.
For his part, Scholz expressed deep appreciation for Egypt's role and affirmed Germany's stance on the necessity of protecting civilians and delivering aid.
Both sides also discussed ways to achieve security and stability in the region, with President El-Sisi emphasizing the two-state solution as the path toward a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
On Wednesday, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock thanked Egypt for its assistance in evacuating more than 200 German nationals and their families from Gaza through the Rafah border crossing in the past few days.
