Egypt condemns Israeli shelling of the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza

Egypt condemned the Israeli occupation forces for shelling the vicinity of the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

The attack resulted in injuries among civilians and medical personnel, adding to a series of Israeli aggressions that violate all principles of international law, read the statement.

According to the Jordanian Official News Agency (Petra), the Jordanian armed forces reported that seven staff members of the Jordanian field hospital in the Gaza Strip were injured at the entrance of the hospital's emergency department.

“Egypt deems Israel's shelling of the vicinity of the Jordanian field hospital and the targeting and intrusion into other hospitals in the region and various civilian facilities a blatant violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law,” the statement added.

Egypt reiterated its call on the international community to fulfill its role in demanding the cessation of these violations and holding the perpetrators accountable.

The Egyptian foreign ministry also stressed the necessity for Israel to adhere to its obligations as the occupying power, including refraining from attacking hospitals or obstructing medical staff from performing their duties.
