Shoukry made his remarks during a consultation meeting between the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, of which he is a member, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is also currently chairs the United Nations Security Council.
Shoukry expressed his gratitude for China's support of the Arab and Islamic efforts to achieve a permanent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza.
Wang Yi, on his part, expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian-Qatari mediation, which contributed to the current temporary ceasefire and allowed more humanitarian into Gaza.
He said his country is ready to exert its utmost efforts to achieve a permanent and unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in line with relevant General Assembly and Security Council resolutions.
Wang Yi also reiterated his country's support for the two-state solution as the only viable option for the Palestinian issue.
The meeting -- which took prior to a UNSC ministerial session on the Gaza crisis -- marked the second phase of the Arab-Islamic committee's tour to mobilize international support for the war-ravaged strip.
The committee, which includes foreign ministers of Arab and Islamic countries, was formed under a resolution of the Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on 11 November.
During the meeting, the committee members expressed their hope for a unified voice during the UNSC session in support of the ceasefire in Gaza and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on a two-state solution.
They also demanded the UNSCE’s intervention to consolidate the Gaza ceasefire and prevent further casualties, while reiterating their rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians.
The committee also met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, where they expressed their appreciation for his efforts aimed at containing the crisis and stopping the bloodshed since the beginning of the war in Gaza.
They underscored the imperative of turning the temporary Gaza ceasefire into a permanent, unconditional cessation of hostilities.
They also decried Israel's obstructive practices that hinder the entry of Gaza humanitarian aid.
