Sisi congratulates UAE on 52nd Union Day

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi participated Saturday in the celebration of the United Arab Emirates' Union Day, marking 52 years since the country’s inception in 1971, according to the Spokesman for Egypt's Presidency Ahmed Fahmy.

The Egyptian president congratulated UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, wishing the Emirati people progress and prosperity.

El-Sisi also congratulated the UAE on the successful hosting of the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), which is currently being held in Dubai from 30 November-12 December.

El-Sisi and his Emirati counterpart further expressed their mutual pride in the strong fraternal relations and mutual friendship between the two countries at the leadership and popular levels.

While attending COP28, El-Sisi has met with a number of world leaders, with the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza at the top of the agenda.

On Friday, he met with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who commended Egypt’s role in coordinating the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

On Saturday, he met with US Vice President Kamala Harris, who told El-Sisi that “under no circumstance, the United States will permit the forced relocation of Palestinians.”
