Al-Azhar condemns Zionist figure call for 'liberating land of Israel from Gaza through Sinai to the Nile River'

Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Terrorism, the monitoring unit of the world's leading Sunni Islamic authority Al-Azhar, denounced the recent remarks made by Rabbi Uzi Sharbaf, a well-known Zionist figure, who alleged that the ongoing Israeli war in Gaza aims “to continue liberating the land of Israel in Gaza and its milieu.”

In a statement, Al-Azhar Observatory noted that “extremist racist” remarks made by the Zionist entity reveal the ugly face of this terrorist entity, warning that Israel aims to occupy not only the Palestinian lands but also the Arab and Islamic lands.

“No doubt that we need to pray and do everything so that we can liberate the entire Sinai region up to the Nile River,” Sharbaf said at a conference on Israeli settlement in Gaza as per a clip with Arabic subtitles shared on the observatory’s Facebook page.

Sharbaf is one of three members of the Jewish secret organization, designated at one point as a terrorist entity, who were sentenced to life imprisonment for committing terrorist operations against Palestinians in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

These crimes included attempts to bomb the Islamic Dome of the Rock prayer hall at the centre of the Al-Aqsa mosque compound and bombing Palestinian buses in occupied Jerusalem.

However, all the prisoners of this secret organization were released a few years later in response to pressure from senior Jewish officials, according to the Al-Azhar Observatory.

"The Zionist entity has always claimed that the promised land, which according to their claim God promised to Jewish people, extends from the Nile River to the Euphrates River," the statement noted.

It added that such a claim is no more than "an improper employment of religious texts contained in the Torah to prove their alleged right to the Islamic and Arab lands to serve Israel's "colonial objectives in the region."

Al-Azhar Observatory was created in 2015 by Al-Azhar to monitor and respond to erroneous and extremist interpretations of Islam.

The observatory also issues periodic reports to monitor and assess the attacks and movements of terror groups in various regions of the world.
