According to the Egyptian Presidency, El-Sisi met with Kuwait's new Emir, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, wishing him success in leading the country to progress and development.

The Kuwaiti television and the Royal Court announced on Saturday the passing away of 86-year-old Sheikh Nawaf.

The Egyptian president mourned the departed leader on Saturday, praising his dedication and contributions to his country and the Arab and Islamic nations.

In a statement, El-Sisi mourned the loss of Sheikh Nawaf as a “great man who cared deeply for his country and its affairs, and who exhibited wisdom in his leadership and made significant contributions to Arab and Muslim nations."

Furthermore, Egypt declared Saturday a three-day mourning period for Kuwait's late Emir.

Sheikh Nawaf was sworn in as Emir following the 2020 death of his predecessor, his half-brother, the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The Emir previously served as Kuwait’s interior and defence minister.

The Kuwaiti cabinet named Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait.
