This year’s edition will take place from 19-20 December, under the theme of “the challenge of strengthening Russia’s place in the Arab region and Africa,” according to the North African Post news website.
Senior government officials from the Arab world and Russia, including Russian FM Sergei Lavrov, will discuss ways of strengthening Arab-Russian cooperation amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and Eastern Europe that are affecting the global economy.
Shoukry is scheduled to have several meetings with his counterparts on the sidelines of the forum to discuss regional and international issues, with the ongoing war in Gaza being a top priority, according to the foreign ministry.
The sixth edition of the forum has been postponed several times due to the COVID pandemic, with the last edition of the forum being held in Moscow in 2019.
Launched in 2009, the forum serves as a platform to exchange viewpoints and coordinate positions on various regional and international issues, taking into account mutual interests in numerous political, economic, and commercial domains.
