During their meeting in Cairo, Shoukry affirmed Egypt's keenness to enhance consultation and coordination with Jordan, whether at the summit level or the ministerial level, to face common challenges and find solutions to the political and security crises in the region.

Shoukry and Safadi also exchanged views on developments in Gaza.

These include efforts to reach a ceasefire and implement the recent United Nations Security Council Resolution on Gaza, amid Israeli obstacles to delivering aid.

Moreover, the top diplomats reaffirmed the importance of tripartite cooperation between Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq.

Furthermore, Egypt's foreign minister emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

On 22 December, the UNSC approved a much-delayed resolution calling for increased aid to the besieged Palestinian territory where civilians are struggling to find food amid Israel’s bloody war.

The resolution emphasizes the importance of providing safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance at scale and create conditions for a sustainable cessation of hostilities.
