The city of Wad Madani has been the scene of recent armed clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

The ministry coordinated with the Sudanese authorities to secure the evacuation of the students from the city and ensure they arrived safely at the Egyptian Consulate in Port Sudan.

The students were then flown to the Egyptian border and returned home.

In a statement, the ministry urged all Egyptian citizens currently in Sudan, including those in states that have not been affected by the armed clashes, to leave the country as soon as possible, warning against any travel to Sudan at this time.

In addition, the statement said the ministry is working closely with the Sudanese authorities to ensure the safety of all Egyptian citizens in Sudan.

In April, following the eruption of the war between the two armed rival powers in the country, Minister of Emigration and Expatriates' Affairs Soha Gendy stated that Sudan hosted around 5,000 Egyptian students, most of whom resided in Khartoum, adding that a total of 10,000 Egyptian citizens lived in Sudan

In the weeks that followed, Egypt evacuated a large number of its nationals from Sudan.
