Egyptian Health Minister meeting with the French Presidential Advisor
This came during a meeting on Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, according to a statement by Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, the Egyptian health ministry spokesman.
The meeting followed their visit to the wounded Palestinians, currently receiving treatment at the Arish Hospital in North Sinai.
Abdel-Ghaffar and Lalliot agreed to keep the French floating hospital Dixmude – docked at the Arish Port since November 2023 to assist in treating the wounded Palestinians in Gaza – in service until the end of January.
Moreover, discussions included the dispatch of French medical experts to provide the needed consultations in the Egyptian hospitals for both Egyptians and Palestinians.
The country has designated 37 hospitals for Palestinians injured in the Israeli brutal attack against Gaza, Abdel-Ghaffar said.
On Monday, the Egyptian health ministry said it has provided more than 22,000 medical services for the Palestinians coming from the Rafah border crossing. It has also performed surgeries for 893 cases.
In November 2023, the ministry launched an initiative to treat 1,000 children wounded in Israel's attack on the strip.
The unrelenting Israeli war in Gaza since 7 October has killed more than 22,000 Palestinians and injured thousands more.
The Israeli attack has knocked most of the medical facilities in Gaza out of service.
