The latest aid convoy consisting of 10 trucks, loaded with 40 tons of essential supplies, was dispatched to Gaza, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade's General Committee for Foreign Aid announced on Thursday.
These supplies include tents, mattresses, blankets, and plastic sheets to provide shelter and protection from the harsh weather conditions prevalent in Gaza.
Minister of Supply Ali Moselhi emphasized the urgency of these relief efforts, highlighting Egypt's commitment to stand by the Palestinian people amid their enduring hardships.
The aid convoy also includes 8,000 adhesive tapes and 4,000 plastic tarps catering to the needs of thousands of displaced families in Gaza, according to Ahmed Fathi, the committee’s deputy chairman.
This is the ministry's fourth aid convoy to Gaza in collaboration with the Catholic Relief Services.
The first contained 16 tons, the second 23 tons, and the third 61 tons of aid.
With this fourth convoy, the total aid sent by Egypt in cooperation with the Catholic Relief to Gaza reached 140 tons, delivered through 66 trucks.
Preparations are underway for dispatching a fifth aid convoy in response to the dire situation of Palestinians in Gaza, Fathi further elaborated.
Egypt has been delivering aid to war-torn Gaza through both land and air.
Moreover, Egyptian and Emirati military aircraft conducted another airdrop of humanitarian assistance to the north of the Gaza Strip overnight, Egyptian Armed Forces Spokesman Gharib Abdel-Hafez stated on Thursday.
The aircraft from both countries departed from Arish International Airport, which has received 502 aid-carrying aircraft for Gaza since 12 October, delivering “tens of tons” of urgent aid to different areas in northern Gaza, the spokesman added.
On Tuesday, the Egyptian Air Forces carried out its first airdrop of humanitarian aid to Gaza since the start of the Israeli aggression and blockade on Gaza on 7 October, in collaboration with the UAE and Jordan.
