Egypt welcomes Arab summit's endorsement of Enany for top UNESCO post
Egypt welcomed the endorsement of the 33rd Arab Summit, hosted Thursday by Manama, Bahrain, of Egypt's candidate Dr Khaled El-Enany for the post of director-general of the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the term 2025-2029.

“It is an important new step to support the Egyptian candidate who has now enjoyed Arab and African support” said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid in a post on X on Thursday.
Egypt nominated the former minister of tourism and antiquities for the post in April 2023.
The African Union announced its support for his candidacy in February while the Arab League announced its support for him in September 2023.
The election will take place during the last quarter of 2025.
