The source added that recent statements made by some Israeli officials blaming Egypt’s refusal to allow Palestinians in Gaza into Sinai for the humanitarian crisis there confirm Israel's intentions and plans to displace Palestinians from Gaza to Sinai, which Egypt categorically rejects.
The source’s response comes hours after Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer claimed on MSNBC” 's “Morning Joe” that the problem in Gaza lies in Egypt’s refusal to allow Gaza residents to enter its territories.
Dermer also claimed that Egypt is preventing 2,000 humanitarian aid trucks from entering Gaza because it has a political issue regarding the Rafah crossing.
However, the Egyptian source stressed that Israel should process over 500 trucks of Egyptian aid congested at the Karm Abu Salem crossing before accusing Egypt of preventing aid from entering the strip.
The Egyptian source stressed that Egypt and the international community would never consent to Israel’s plans to displace Palestinians from Gaza to Sinai.
In early May, Egypt called on the international community to pressure Israel to stop its outrageous ground assault on Palestinian Rafah and open all border crossings, including the Rafah crossing, with Gaza to allow the entry of humanitarian aid to desperate Palestinians.
Last week, Egypt disclosed it rejected an Israeli proposal to coordinate in controlling the Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt, insisting instead on Palestinian management of the crossing.
Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza on 7 October, Egypt has been pushing for an extended ceasefire in Gaza and sustained access to humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of 2.4 million civilians who have faced a man-made famine because of a deadly Israeli blockade on the strip.
In a speech at the Arab Summit in Bahrain last week, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi called on the international community and all acting parties to cooperate "to save the future, before it is too late” and put an immediate end to the outrageous Israeli war against the Palestinians and establish their independent state.
President El-Sisi and other Egyptian officials have reasserted since October 2023 that Egypt won’t accept any liquidation of the Palestinian cause by forcefully displacing the Palestinian population of Gaza to Sinai.
