Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry emphasized in the phone call from Blinken the proposal announced by U.S. President Biden regarding a ceasefire in Gaza and the mediation efforts being undertaken by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

Shoukry asserted Egypt's support for all efforts aimed at ending the Israeli war against Gaza, achieving an immediate and permanent ceasefire, exchanging prisoners and detainees, and ensuring unimpeded access to humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people.

The ministers also discussed various aspects of the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Minister Shoukry stressed the necessity of opening all land crossings between Israel and Gaza to allow the entry of aid and to provide safe conditions for international relief teams operating in the sector.

Blinken’s call comes as Cairo is gearing up to host a new round of Egyptian-American-Israeli talks on Sunday to discuss the reopening of the Rafah border crossing according to a high-level Egyptian source told Al-Qahera News TV channel on Saturday.
