Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgiy Borisenko.
Ambassador Borisenko explained that bilateral cooperation is comprehensive, spanning political, economic, military, cultural, scientific, and other fields.
It was enhanced by the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries that entered into force in January 2021, he added.
The ambassador pointed out that last year was the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"I am convinced that Russian-Egyptian relations, based on mutual respect and consideration of mutual interests, will develop and strengthen dynamically in the future. This is largely due to the long-standing friendship between presidents Vladimir Putin and Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi," said Borisenko.
Since the strategic partnership agreement entered into force, cooperation between Russia and Egypt has increased substantially across a range of fields.
This includes the construction of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant. Russia is also one of the largest suppliers of wheat and other agricultural products to Egypt, exporting 5.9 million tons of grain to Egypt annually.
Meanwhile, the Russian private sector has invested more than $8 billion in Egypt. Russia is the second-largest source of tourists for Egypt and there are more than 16,000 Egyptian students studying in Russian universities, in addition to cultural cooperation between the two countries.
