Sisi welcomes invitation to visit Equatorial Guinea

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi welcomed on Wednesday an invitation from the Equatorial Guinean President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to visit Equatorial Guinea, with the date of the visit to be set through diplomatic arrangements, according to the Egyptian presidency.

This came during a meeting between President El-Sisi and Vice President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, including ministers of foreign affairs, security, health, and agriculture in Cairo.

Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry also attended the meeting.

The meeting aimed to bolster relations between Egypt and Equatorial Guinea.

According to the Egyptian presidency, Vice President Obiang Mangue delivered an invitation letter from President Nguema Mbasogo to President El-Sisi, expressing deep appreciation for Egypt and its president.

Moreover, Vice President Obiang Mangue highlighted his activities in Egypt during the visit, including meetings on Tuesday with the prime minister and several ministers to explore ways to enhance economic cooperation and trade between the two countries.

He praised Egypt's remarkable development progress, shedding light on its significant contribution to the capabilities of the African continent.

Meanwhile, El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's dedication to deepening cooperation with African countries.

El-Sisi emphasized the promising opportunities for joint investments between the private sectors of both nations, particularly in infrastructure, urban development, energy, transportation, health, and pharmaceuticals.

He also expressed Egypt's readiness to assist Equatorial Guinea in transferring its acclaimed expertise in eliminating Hepatitis C.

The meeting also covered continental and regional issues. 

President El-Sisi expressed gratitude for Equatorial Guinea's support of the Palestinian cause and briefed Vice President Obiang Mangue on Egypt's efforts to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
