According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the call was part of ongoing consultations with Egypt before the UN official's monthly briefing to the Security Council.

The discussion focused on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, given the obstacles Israel places on aid entry and the worsening humanitarian crisis in the strip.

Minister Shoukry sought to understand the UN official's assessment of strategies and plans to alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis faced by Palestinian civilians in Gaza, including the outcomes of her communications with Israeli officials regarding easing the restrictions on truck movements at the crossings.

The Egyptian foreign minister and the UN official discussed the status of humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza and the current situation at the Rafah crossing, in light of Israel's destruction of the Palestinian side of the crossing.

Shoukry also expressed Egypt's rejection of certain elements seizing humanitarian aid entering Palestinian Rafah and Israel's failure to protect and ensure its delivery to those in need.

In the end, the Egyptian foreign minister and the UN official agreed to continue coordination and consultations regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza in the coming period.
