Egypt, Somalia presidents discuss Horn of Africa, Red Sea developments in phone call

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed in a phone call on Thursday the latest developments in the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Both presidents underscored their commitment to ensuring the security and stability of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden regions, according to a statement issued by the Egyptian Presidency.

They emphasized their rejection of any unilateral actions that could undermine regional stability, reiterating the importance of all regional states’ commitment to the frameworks of cooperation to achieve stability and development for their peoples.

El-Sisi also reiterated Egypt's dedication to Somalia's security, stability, and sovereignty, affirming support for Somalia in addressing its security and developmental challenges, the statement noted.

El-Sisi and Sheikh Mahmud also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, expressing their satisfaction with the recent momentum in cooperation between Egypt and Somalia.

The two leaders emphasized their commitment to expanding this cooperation across various fields, in line with the fraternal ties between the two nations, according to the statement.
