The school, located in the Nuseirat Camp in Central Gaza, sheltered displaced Palestinians.

At least 16 people were killed and 50 others were injured in the Israeli strike.

According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's statement, Cairo denounced Israel's ongoing violations of international law and international humanitarian law, calling on Israel to fulfil its obligations as an occupying power, cease targeting defenceless civilians in Gaza, and provide protection and safe zones for them.

In addition, Egypt emphasised the urgent need for a comprehensive ceasefire throughout the Gaza Strip to end the humanitarian crises endured by the residents, resulting in the death of thousands of women and children.

Egypt also called on Israel to heed international efforts to halt the ongoing war on Gaza, resume humanitarian efforts, and ensure the unimpeded delivery of relief aid through all land crossings into Gaza.

Since 7 October, Israel has killed 38,153 Palestinians and injured 87,828 others, mostly women and children.
