During a meeting in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, El-Tayyeb highlighted Al-Azhar’s ongoing efforts to promote the moderation of Islam.
El-Tayyeb clarified that Al-Azhar, alongside the Muslim Council of Elders, has engaged in dialogues between the East and the West and held international conferences on women's status in Islam and other events that advocate for using the term “citizenship” instead of “minorities.”
This collaboration promotes empowerment and equality among all individuals, regardless of religion, race, gender, or colour, he added.
El-Tayyeb referenced the first Islamic state established by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which fostered brotherhood between immigrants and supporters.
The "Constitution of Medina" was the first to guarantee rights for all, setting a purely Islamic precedent for respectful, friendly, and integrated relationships between Muslims and non-Muslims, he noted.

El-Tayyeb also stressed the lack of coordination among Islamic countries and institutions, advocating for a unified Islamic stance to address current challenges and crises.
He warned that efforts to combat Islamophobia, regardless of their scale, would be ineffective without a genuine desire for change, achievable only through cooperation and coordination among political leaders and religious scholars.
Excluding any group will lead to fragmentation and division, hindering prosperity in the Islamic world, he cautioned.
For his part, the Indonesian VP highlighted the Indonesian people's deep affection and respect for El-Tayyeb and Al-Azhar, their primary religious and scientific authority.
He emphasized the importance of El-Tayyeb's visit in strengthening the relationship between Egypt and Indonesia.

To enhance scientific relations with Al-Azhar, Indonesia has established the Office for the Development of International Student Education to prepare students before they study at Al-Azhar University, emphasizing that these students are future scholars and leaders, he explained.
Amin appreciated the collaboration between the Egyptian Zakat and Charity House and the Indonesian counterpart, particularly in preparing humanitarian aid convoys and relief supplies for Gaza.
He reiterated Indonesia's support for the Palestinian people, underscoring the oppression and violence they face.
Working with Al-Azhar and the Muslim Council of Elders is a necessity to correct global misconceptions about Islam, especially amid false accusations of violence and extremism, he added.
Amin promoted Islam's true message of moderation and tolerance, educating Western youth, and refuting false allegations, highlighting the threats Islamophobia poses to the stability of Muslim communities in Western countries.
