On Monday, six people were killed and dozens were wounded in a shooting near a Shia mosque in the Omani capital.

Shias, which make up a minority of Oman's overwhelmingly Muslim population, marked on Tuesday Ashura, an annual day of mourning that commemorates the 7th-century battlefield martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad's grandson Al-Hussein.

The terrorist group ISIS reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

El-Sisi reiterated Egypt's condemnation of this heinous terrorist act and expressed full solidarity with the Sultanate of Oman during this challenging time, within the framework of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.

For his part, Oman’s sultan expressed his appreciation for Egypt's supportive stance towards Oman, emphasizing the strength of the historical fraternal relations binding Egypt and Oman and their respective peoples.

He reaffirmed his country's commitment to further strengthening the distinguished bilateral cooperation between the two countries across various fields.
