A high-level Egyptian source denied Wednesday the presence of Israeli or Palestinian delegations in Egypt to discuss the truce proposal aimed at ending the Israeli war in Gaza.

The source also denied in media remarks that Israel has informed Egypt of its response to the truce proposal, as has been reported by Israeli media sources.

The source noted that such reports are intentional leaks by Israel to pre-empt Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming speech before the US Congress, salted later today.

Netanyahu aims to create a narrative ahead of his congressional speech, making false claims about allowing injured Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip.

He also seeks to spread false allegations that humanitarian relief operations in the Gaza Strip have been intensified and the truce agreement progressed, the source added.

With his visit to Washington, Netanyahu aims to bolster US support amid global pressure due to Israel’s devastating war in Gaza.

Since the war began on 7 October, Israel has killed 39,090 people, injured 90,147, mostly women and children, caused extensive damage to Gaza's infrastructure, and displaced most of the strip’s residents.

Egypt and Qatar have been mediating truce negotiations between Israel and Hamas since the onset of the Israeli war.

The latest round was held in Cairo and Doha earlier this month in the presence of Abbas Kamel, the head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service, and his American counterpart, William Burns.
