FM Abdelatty made his appeal during a phone call with Croatian counterpart Gordan Grlić Radman on Wednesday.
Egypt’s top diplomat welcomed Croatia’s recent adjustment in its stance towards the events unfolding in Gaza, according to a statement by the Egyptian foreign ministry.
He also highlighted Zagreb’s commitment to policies advocating for an end to the Israeli ongoing war and the facilitation of aid.
Since the war began on 7 October, Israel has killed 39,090 people and injured 90,147, mostly women and children.
It has also destroyed and damaged Gaza's infrastructure, displacing most of the strip’s residents.
Egypt, along with Qatar and the US, has been mediating truce negotiations between Israel and Hamas since the onset of the Israeli war.
Egypt-Croatia Ties
The call also discussed means of boosting ties between the two nations.
Abdelatty thanked the Croatian side for their support in elevating Egypt's relations with the European Union to the level of strategic partnership, which resulted in the EU pledging a €7.4 billion ($8.1 billion) aid and investment package for Egypt.
Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt's hope for continued support, reflecting the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries. He also commended Croatia's supportive stances towards Egypt in international forums and within the European Union.
He also expressed Egypt's eagerness for the prompt convening of the Joint Ministerial Committee, to be hosted by Croatia.
This committee, he added, is expected to open new horizons for cooperation and investment between the two countries.
Abdelatty also pointed to Egypt's desire to increase trade by reviving cooperation between the ports of Alexandria and Rijeka. He emphasized enhancing the flow of more Egyptian exports to Europe via Croatia, which Egypt views as a crucial southern gateway to the European Union.
