Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty (R) and his Spanish counterpart Minister Jose Manuel Albares (L)
FM Abdelatty welcomed the increasing contribution of Spanish companies to developing the Egyptian transport sector, noting the successful experience of Spanish companies operating in Egypt.
He also commended Spain's stance, both government and people, on supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, especially following Spain's official recognition of the Palestinian state.
Furthermore, Abdelatty told Albares that Egypt praises Spain's efforts to stop the war on Gaza and ensure rapid and safe humanitarian access for civilians in the Gaza Strip.
He also highlighted the dangers of Israel's escalation policy, warning of the repercussions of assassination policies, violations of state sovereignty, and fueling regional conflict.
Moreover, Abdelatty emphasized the need to exert pressure to prevent the expansion of the conflict.
He reviewed his communications with international officials to calm the situation in Lebanon.
The two sides also discussed Egyptian efforts to end the crisis in Sudan, including the hosting of a conference in Cairo that brought together Sudanese civil and political forces.
In this regard, Abdelatty stressed that Egypt mainly focuses on achieving a ceasefire and granting Sudanese civilians rapid access to humanitarian aid.
He also valued Spain's support for Egypt within the European Union and hoped Spain would continue to support the elevation of Egypt-EU relations to a comprehensive and strategic partnership.
For his part, Albares praised the strength of bilateral relations between the two countries and congratulated Abdelatty on his new position.
He also emphasized his eagerness to work towards enhancing ties for the benefit of both nations.
At the end of the call, the two ministers agreed to continue consultations and coordination to enhance relations between the two countries, thus serving the interests of the Egyptian and Spanish people.
