Egypt has strongly condemned the Israeli bombing of the Al-Taba'een School, which housed displaced Palestinians in Al-Daraj neighbourhood east of Gaza City.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday, resulting in the death of 100 Palestinians and injuries to dozens more.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced Saturday that Israeli assaults on Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip represent an unprecedented disregard for international and humanitarian laws.

The statement called for a unified and effective international response to protect the Palestinians and end the ongoing targeting of defenseless civilians.

Egypt also condemned the deliberate killing of large numbers of unarmed civilians, particularly amid the intensive mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Israeli attack came hours after leaders of Egypt, the US, and Qatar called on the Israeli government and Hamas in a joint statement to resume the ceasefire talks next Thursday.

Egypt asserted that this is clear evidence of the lack of Israel's will to end this “fierce war,” the statement pointed out.

Furthermore, Egypt condemned the continued suffering of Palestinians amidst a humanitarian crisis that the international community has been unable to resolve.

However, according to the statement, it stressed continuing its diplomatic endeavours to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and reach a ceasefire.

Egypt has been leading efforts since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza to deliver aid to civilians who are facing near-starvation conditions due to an Israeli blockade on the strip and reach a ceasefire and captives swap deal.

Since 7 October, Israel has killed nearly 40,000 people in Gaza, mostly children and women, injured over 91,000, caused extensive damage to Gaza's infrastructure, and displaced most of the strip’s residents.
