President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi during meeting with General Charles Brown and his accompanying delegation
During the meeting, El-Sisi emphasized the need to halt the escalation that threatens the security and stability of the entire region, warning of the risks of opening a new front of conflict in Lebanon and underscoring the need to preserve Lebanon's stability and sovereignty.
Early on Sunday, Hezbollah carried out a large-scale attack with rockets and drones on Israeli positions in an initial response to the assassination of the Lebanese group’s top commander Fouad Shukr, as Israel launched what it called pre-emptive strikes against the group.
Egypt expressed its deep concern while following the ongoing escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli front, stressing the need for concerted international and regional efforts to establish calm in the Middle East.
Moreover, President El-Sisi stressed the importance of collaborating with the Egyptian-US-Qatari efforts to promptly reach an agreement to cease the war in Gaza, facilitate the exchange of captives and detainees, and enhance the path to regional calm and stability.
According to a presidential statement, he also underscored the urgent need to allow the entry of essential relief and medical aid to Gaza, highlighting the tragic humanitarian conditions faced by Palestinians there.
Furthermore, the president affirmed the necessity of coordinated international efforts to begin a comprehensive political process for establishing an independent Palestinian state within the two-state solution framework, describing it as crucial for achieving lasting regional stability.
Additionally, the meeting touched on the strong strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States, spotlighting the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the two nations across various sectors, particularly security and military matters.
For his part, Brown conveyed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s crucial role in supporting regional stability, security, and peace.
He also expressed his desire to expand military cooperation to achieve shared interests and bolster stability and peace in the Middle East.
Minister of Defence and Military Production and Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces General Abdel-Meguid Saqr and US Ambassador to Cairo Herro Mustafa Garg also attended the meeting.
