The Egyptian FM's remarks came during a meeting with a US congressional delegation, led by Senator Joni Ernst, at the Egyptian cabinet headquarters in New Alamein City, according to the Egyptian foreign ministry's statement.
During the meeting, FM Abdelatty reviewed with the congressional delegation the ongoing Egyptian efforts to reduce regional tensions.
He underscored that Egyptian-American coordination to address these crises and foster regional peace reflects special relations between both countries.
For her part, Senator Ernst, who is visiting Egypt for the second time, affirmed the US' keenness to enhance its strategic partnership with Egypt, given Cairo's pivotal role in preserving regional security and stability and enhancing peace efforts.
Earlier Thursday, the US congressional delegation met with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, where they discussed the latest regional developments and means of boosting economic cooperation.
The US congressional visit to Cairo comes amid intensified diplomatic efforts to reduce the escalation between Israel, on one side, and Hezbollah and Iran, on the other, following the Israeli assassination of Hezbollah military chief Fouad Shukur in Beirut and Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in late July.
It also comes as Egypt, Qatar, and the US continue intensified efforts to mediate a ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel to end the more-than-10-month-old Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
Egypt-US Economic Ties
During the meeting, FM Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s hope for positive outcomes from the upcoming Egypt-US Joint Economic Commission meeting.
He welcomed the rise in US investments in Egypt and highlighted the promising investment opportunities in the country's economy.
According to the US State Department, most American firms' activities lie in oil and gas exploration and production sectors, the hospitality industry, and the telecommunications and information technology industry.
Additionally, the US foreign direct investments (FDI) in Egypt posted $12.7 billion in 2022, an 8.6 percent increase compared to 2021, according to the US Trade Representative office.
