FM Abdelatty briefed Gerapetritis on the ongoing regional and international communications to mediate tensions, the Egyptian foreign ministry's statement noted.

For his part, the Greek FM commended Cairo's tireless efforts at the political and humanitarian levels towards resolving the successive crises in the Middle East, acknowledging Egypt's role as a pillar of regional security and stability.

He further expressed his appreciation for the intensive contacts conducted by FM Abdelatty to contain the current state of regional escalation.

International diplomatic efforts have recently increased to reduce the escalation between Israel and Hezbollah and Iran, following the Israeli assassination of Hezbollah military chief Fouad Shukur in Beirut and Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in late July.

Meanwhile, Egypt, Qatar, and the US continue intensified efforts to mediate a ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel to end the more-than-10-month-old Israeli war on Gaza.

Abdelatty emphasized the importance of consolidating economic ties between Egypt and Greece, especially in trade and investment, and exploring further prospects for cooperation in other files, such as the labour file.

He also affirmed Egypt's commitment within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Cyprus, which has become a role model as an integrated regional cooperation framework to confront the increasing regional challenges in the Mediterranean.

Meanwhile, the Greek top diplomat praised the deep-rooted relations between both countries, expressing his aspiration to continue bolstering strategic relations between Egypt and Greece at bilateral and regional levels.

The call came within the framework of both sides' keenness to follow up on joint projects and discuss regional issues of mutual interest, the Egyptian foreign ministry's statement noted.

Over the past decade, Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus have deepened their tripartite cooperation across various fields, including politics, energy, economics, and defence.

Their collaboration has included high-level exchanges and numerous tripartite summits to advance planned projects and initiatives.
