According to the statement, Egypt has denounced Israel's persistent efforts to escalate confrontations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, including excessive use of military force, illegal killings, and the destruction of roads, civilian infrastructure, and homes.

In addition, it criticized the Israeli arrest operations accompanied by acts of torture, stressing that such violations must not go unaccounted for.

It also called on Israel to fulfil its legal obligations as an occupying power and protect the Palestinian residents in the occupied territories.

Furthermore, the country urged influential international parties and the Security Council to take a firm stance against these illegal practices.

“Egypt renewed its warning against the dangers of the scorched-earth policy, which aims to undermine all components of the future Palestinian state and eliminate what remains of hope for the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate rights,” read the statement.

The Israeli military attacks ongoing for seven days in the West Bank have resulted in the death of 22 Palestinian residents and injury of dozens of others.

On 26 August, Israel carried an airstrike in the West Bank that killed five people.

Two days later, the Israeli army launched a major assault on four cities in the West Bank, adding to its ongoing war on Gaza.

Moreover, Israel detained at least 36 Palestinians from the West Bank in the past 24 hours.

Since the war began on 7 October, Israel has killed around 650 Palestinians in the West Bank, according to the United Nations.

Additionally, more than 10,400 Palestinians, including in Jerusalem, have been detained by the Israeli army since the start of the war, according to WAFA news agency.
