FM Abdelatty praised the growing cooperation between Egypt and the UK, particularly in economic and trade sectors, highlighting that the UK is currently the leading foreign investor in Egypt.

He highlighted key areas of collaboration, including energy — particularly clean energy — communications and information technology, transportation and railway carriage supply, and urban development and infrastructure projects.

The foreign minister outlined the measures taken to empower the private sector, enhance the economy’s competitiveness, support the transition to a green economy, and provide investment incentives to localize certain national industries.

He emphasized that these efforts have led to a significant investment surge across various economic activities, presenting an opportunity to attract further British investments to Egypt.

FM Abdelatty also expressed his eagerness to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various economic and investment fields of mutual interest, encouraging British companies to benefit from the ongoing projects in Egypt, particularly in infrastructure, smart cities, and renewable energy projects.

Minister Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s interest in boosting trilateral cooperation with the UK in African countries, leveraging the strong strategic presence and relationships both Egypt and the UK have, particularly in areas of mutual concern such as clean and renewable energy, transportation, infrastructure, and healthcare.

For his part, Humphrey affirmed the UK's desire to expand its investments in Egypt, emphasizing a commitment to jointly advancing business, trade, and investment between the two countries. This reflects the depth of the Egyptian-British relationship.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson concluded his remarks by noting that FM Abdelatty was keen to listen to the ideas and proposals presented by Humphrey to further enhance cooperation between Egypt and the UK in various economic and investment fields, serving the interests of the two nations.

British investments in Egypt reached $20 billion, with over 1,500 companies operating in various sectors in 2023.
