Latin Ambassadors in Cairo declare support for Palestinian right to full membership in UN

Several ambassadors and representatives of Latin American and Caribbean countries in Egypt affirmed their countries' full support for the legitimate right for the State of Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations.

The Arab League Council at the level of permanent delegates held a meeting with the ambassadors of Latin American and Caribbean countries at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League on 11th September.

During the meeting, the ambassadors stressed that their countries are committed to supporting the Palestinian people and granting them their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions and resolutions of international legitimacy.

Brazilian Ambassador to Cairo Paulini Franco de Carvello said his country always affirms in all regional and international forums its full support for the Palestinian people and its commitment to the two-state solution. Brazil, he said, constantly reiterates the necessity of granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations.

De Carvello added that his country recognizes the Palestinian state and continues to make all efforts to support the Palestinians.

He hoped the international community would contribute effectively to putting an end to the series of wars that left Palestinians dead and wounded.

For his part, Bolivia's ambassador to Cairo, Edwin Rivero Cuspert, said his country supports the Palestinian cause and defends Palestinian rights in all regional and international forums. Cuspert also highlighted that his country supports Palestine in obtaining full membership in the United Nations.

In addition, he stressed that the Palestinian people have the full right to self-determination and to a free, independent, and sovereign state on the borders of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Cuspert went on to say that the Palestinians can rely on Bolivia's unlimited support for their security, peace, and stability. He affirmed that the Palestinians were not alone and that Bolivia stands with them.

Similarly, Venezuelan Ambassador to Cairo, Wilmer Omar Barrientos, expressed his gratitude for being invited to attend this meeting at the General Secretariat of the Arab League. He stressed that his country supports the Palestinian cause and recognizes the Palestinians' rights in all regional and international forums.

Barrientos also noted that the international community must recognize the Palestinian state and its right to full membership in the United Nations.

Meanwhile, the Colombian Ambassador to Cairo, Melina de Gaviria, stressed the need to strengthen relations between the Arab and Latin and Caribbean regions, pointing out that the two have common values ​​and interests.

She stated that her country recognizes Palestine and provides all means of support to the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause.

De Gaviria also announced her country's complete support for Palestine's right to obtain full membership in the United Nations.

She indicated her country's complete rejection of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, noting that Colombia announced last October severing its ties with Israel because Colombian policies are based on respect for international law.

Moreover, De Gaviria affirmed her country's rejection of violence and any action against human rights and its rejection of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.
