In a statement issued on Monday, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the bombing of the UAE ambassador’s residence in Khartoum violates international law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 that guarantees the protection and immunity of diplomatic missions and affirms their inviolability at all times.

“While Egypt condemns this incident, it emphasizes the need to adhere to the provisions of international humanitarian law and to ensure the protection of civilians and the safety of diplomatic missions,” the statement added.

Earlier on Monday, the UAE announced that the residence of its ambassador in Khartoum had been attacked by a Sudanese military aircraft, condemning it as a "heinous attack."

The Sudanese army denied the accusation by the UAE, which claimed that Sudanese forces had bombed the ambassador's residence, instead blaming the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for the attack.

Sudan's foreign ministry also denounced the UAE's claims, describing them as "false allegations."

In a statement, the Sudanese army referred to the attack as "shameful and cowardly," attributing it to the RSF.

The army has repeatedly accused the UAE of providing weapons and support to the RSF in Sudan's 17-month-old conflict, a claim the Gulf state firmly denies.
