He emphasized the importance of maintaining Lebanon’s stability, unity, and sovereignty amid growing tensions, according to a statement by the Egyptian foreign ministry.
Abdelatty also condemned the recent dangerous Israeli escalation in South Lebanon, expressing Egypt's rejection of any attempts to impose new realities on the ground that compromise Lebanon's sovereignty.
He warned that such escalation could ignite the region, leading to severe security and humanitarian consequences, the statement noted.
During the call, the Lebanese speaker briefed Abdelatty on the political and security situation and the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in his country following the Israeli aggression.
The Israel aggression resulted in the displacement of 750,000 Lebanese from southern villages, he pointed out.
Both parties called on the UN Security Council to take responsibility for enforcing its resolutions and working to halt Israeli aggression.
They also emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in both Lebanon and Gaza.
Berri expressed his appreciation for the Egyptian President’s swift directive to send medical aid to Lebanon as part of Egypt's efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by the Lebanese people during this critical time.
