In his speech, Abdelatty expressed his gratitude to Sameh Shoukry for the important role he played during his tenure as foreign minister and for his valuable contributions in safeguarding Egypt’s interests amid regional and international challenges.
He also stressed that Egypt’s longstanding diplomacy has been, and will continue to be, the first line of defence in protecting the country’s interests abroad.
For his part, Sameh Shoukry expressed his appreciation for the recognition, noting his pride in the period he led the ministry and acknowledging the dedication and commitment of its members in facing the challenges Egypt encountered over the years.
Shoukry, 72, had been the country’s top diplomat since 2014 before being replaced with Abdelatty in the latest ministerial reshuffle in July.
