Abdelatty made these remarks during a phone conversation on Friday with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, where they discussed the latest developments in the region, according to a statement from Egypt's foreign ministry.

In addition, Abdelatty urged the international community to take immediate and decisive action to secure an enduring ceasefire in both Gaza and Lebanon.

He underscored Egypt's firm rejection of any violations undermining Lebanon’s safety and sovereignty.

Abdelatty also called for increased humanitarian aid to the Lebanese people, stressing the need to empower the Lebanese state and its institutions to carry out their responsibilities amid the ongoing conflict.

He further highlighted the importance of implementing United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1701 and urged all parties to adhere to it without bias.

Resolution 1701 – unanimously approved by the UNSC on 11 August 2006 – was intended to address the aftermath of the 2006 Israeli war on Lebanon. It called for a full Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, stipulating that the Lebanese army and UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) are the only armed forces south of the Litani River, approximately 30 km (about 20 miles) from Lebanon's southern border.

Tensions have been running high in the Middle East amid the brutal Israeli war in Gaza and Lebanon, which raised concerns about the potential for a full-scale regional conflict.

Israel's 12-month war in Gaza has killed more than 41,800 people, mostly children and women, pushed the strip Gaza to the brink of famine, and reduced it to ruins.

In recent days, Israel has expanded its military operations from Gaza to Lebanon, after nearly a year of low-level cross-border skirmishes with Hezbollah.

On Monday evening, Israeli forces began a ground incursion into Southern Lebanon, marking the first such attempt since Israel last invaded the country in 2006.

The ground incursion comes in parallel with heavy Israeli airstrikes on several parts of Lebanon, including the capital Beirut, which killed nearly 2,000 and wounded thousands.
