President El-Sisi heads to Eritrea Thursday

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is heading to the Eritrean capital Asmara on Thursday in response to an invitation from Eritrea's President Isaias Afwerki.

During the visit, they will discuss regional issues and support efforts to promote stability and security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea to serve the interests of all peoples in the region, according to a statement by the Egyptian presidency.

Moreover, they will discuss ways to reinforce bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Eritrea's President Afwerki has also made multiple official visits to Egypt, with his most recent visit in February when he met with President El-Sisi.

In addition, Eritrean Minister of Foreign Affairs Osman Saleh met with El-Sisi in New Alamein City in August to discuss the threats in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.
