El-Tayyeb was speaking during a meeting in Cairo with renowned American economist and public policy analyst Jeffrey Sachs.

"One cannot help to deduce that this unconditional support to Israel may stem from undisclosed US-Israeli interests," El-Tayyeb said, according to a statement from the Al-Azhar.

"The Zionist entity has utilized all its efforts in the presence of an American president loyal to Israel and allows it to do whatever it wants without humanitarian restrictions or moral obstacles," read the statement.

El-Tayyeb noted that the voices of religious scholars, philosophers, and wise individuals go unheard by decision-makers, “who continue to inflict suffering on humanity and drive the world toward greater violence, hatred, and chaos, endangering the lives of innocent children, women, and men.”

Moreover, he expressed his astonishment that no country or power has been able to stand up against the malevolent Zionist schemes.

He said they seek to kill Palestinians, expand the scope of conflicts, and turn the region — and the entire world — into a hotspot of war and turmoil, according to the statement.

Sachs, the Columbia University Professor and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network President, urged unifying the voices of fair-minded philosophers, religious scholars, Arab institutions, and Islamic organizations to stand up against the US support to Israel..

He said all these voices should demand the US to end its weapons supply to Israel and veto power blocking an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to stop its unconditional support for Israel, the statement added.

Sachs asserted that the US administration's stance does not reflect the views of the American people, who generally hold a more just perspective and want the aggression to cease.

The issue lies with political leaders, he affirmed.

Furthermore, Sachs asserted that religious extremism in Israel has reached a peak, with a sacred aura cast over the aggression, and calls for its continuation citing religious texts that advocate for invasion, destruction, and the killing of innocent civilians.

He emphasized that the political leadership of the Zionist entity lacks any desire for peace, disregards peaceful solutions, and ignores international resolutions affirming Palestinians' rights to establish an independent state.

Sachs also noted that Israeli settlers are influenced solely by what the Zionist media presents, portraying the actions of Zionist officials as righteous and just.

"The crisis does not lie with Israel; Israel cannot continue its aggression for even one day without US support. If the US signalled for it to stop, it would. But we don't have an American president who genuinely wants this entity to cease, unlike in the past," he continued.

In addition, Sachs proposed holding a meeting that would bring together several philosophers and religious leaders, including from Al-Azhar, to devise practical solutions that would help halt the Middle East conflicts.

This would be followed by a joint statement and a global summit to formulate a comprehensive vision on the issue, he added.

Sheikh El-Tayyeb welcomed the proposal and confirmed Al-Azhar’s readiness to provide all necessary support to ensure its successful implementation.
