The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement Egypt expressed its full solidarity with the Turkish government and people during this critical time.

“Egypt strongly denounces any acts of terrorism that threaten the security and stability of the Republic of Turkey,” the statement read.

Egypt extends its heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathies to the Turkish government, people, and the families of the victims while wishing a speedy recovery to those injured, the statement added.

Two attackers set off explosives and opened fire Wednesday at Turkey’s state-run aerospace and defence company TUSAS, killing four people and wounding more than a dozen, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

The two attackers — a man and a woman — were also killed, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said.

Yerlikaya did not say what organization was behind the attack, as the process of identifying the assailants continued. But Defense Minister Yasar Guler pointed the finger at the militant Kurdistan Workers’ Party or PKK.
